| Which BB for the new 2003 (572) LX Crank | s Jan 22, 2003 7:20 PM | | I bought a new (fat arm)2003 572 LX crank (not the old 571)and tried to put
it on my 2002 trek 6700 using a ES 70 BB with a spindle length of 113.The
crank bolts on but the inner chain ring hits the frame so the spindle length
needs to be longer. I called trek and they told me that the new 2003 cranks
will only fit a ES-51 BB and that it would take a 126 spindle length for my
bike which has a 50 chain line. He said that a 121 will work and shift the
best but if I would have chain suck that it would bend my chainring, So he
recommended the 126 but said it may not shift as well.I looked every where I
know of for a 126 and could only find a 121 so I ordered it. Has anyone had
this trouble or know if the 121 will work?
Thanks ahead of time

| If Trek is saying you need a 50mm chainline... | næstep Jan 22, 2003 9:08 PM | | ...than by all means cancel your order and find the 126 length. Have you asked your LBS to check their distributors? If that's a no go, BikeUSA.com, BeyondBikes.com and AEBike.com have always been able to track down and special order new stuff without too much hassle.
I had to narrow a chainline on a previous Fisher bike essentially what you're getting yourself into with the 121 and it was no fun. Couldn't get that front derailleur dialed in for the life of me.
