| Sea Otter Classic is a RIPOFF | pretorian Jan 22, 2003 9:52 PM | | Those azzholes that run this event are just taking your money and running. What the hell is this all for? Who is it benefitting except the organizers of this race. The people working out on the courses and at the end are just hoarding all the stuff that they're supposed to be handing out for free to the riders and spectators. If you do this ride, you will get nothing. |

| Huh. imagine that! | Yeti_Rider Jan 23, 2003 7:00 AM | | a company invests time and money into doing something and actually wants to make a profit at it since it is after all their business!
While I have other issues iwht the sea otter as an overall event (mainly, with all the corporate dollars pumped into the event, why must participants still pay 12 bucks for an event T-shirt that's emblazoned with corporate logos when it can't cost more than 3 bucks to produce) this race is put on for the sole purpose of making money for the promoters.

| al davis is an American Idol and don't you forget it | mikeb Jan 23, 2003 10:16 PM | | the sea otter people deserve to be cursed repeatedly for offering paved campsites for whatever exhorbitant cost amount they're charging a night.
screw those people anyway, i sent them a nasty email about those awful campsites in march of 2000 and they returned my entry fee a week before the race. gale force productions is one of the main reasons i've given up on racing. thier response to my constructive criticism was one of arrogance and smugness.
screw them all.
yeah, it's great that they put the show on and all, but my personal feelings toward them are those based on an adversarial relationship. the man who is second in command from rick sutton can pretty much kiss my black behind, for all i care. i forget his name, but i talked to him on the phone once. i thought he was a swinging sclong.
i'll spend my camping money somewhere else, or better yet, camp for free at boggs.
you greedy b*stards! |

Poach the course. (Actually, since its a public area, its not really poaching)
Spend your money on beer, hookers and bikestuff. |

| re: Sea Otter Classic is a RIPOFF | Gil Gerard Jan 24, 2003 12:54 AM | | Sure, they have to spend money to organize this thing, but in the end, they're in it to cash in and take advantage of the rest of us. They try to promote an image that they're God's gift to the sport of biking, but what the hell are they really contributing to the sport; or to the riders that want to participate. We really don't get anything out of this, not even a lousy souvenir t-shirt. Gotta pay for that too. They toss us the cheap water bottles and keep the powerbars for themselves. |
