| Bar ends crushing handlebar | TheDoc Jan 24, 2003 10:00 AM | | I was told I cannot put bar ends on my bike cuz they will crush the bar. Is there a fix for this? |

| link inside | laffeaux Jan 24, 2003 10:31 AM | | Yes, you can use some bar ends, Easton tells you which barends are acceptable to use:

That said, I've been using barends that don't meet these criteria on both a EA70 and a CT2 bar for over 2 years and have not had any problems. (That is not a recommendation to do so.) |
| I think most will tend to crush, | wapsi Jan 24, 2003 2:30 PM | | at least when you crash, (my exp), i have seen aluminum plugs, need some, cant' find them. i think even a wooden dowel glued in the end would probably work 90% of the time. i have more than 1 pair that have been trimmed down at spring cleaning. |

| look at... | uber-stupid Jan 24, 2003 3:03 PM | | BMX bar plugs. Them crazy freestylers make mongo aluminum bar caps with a similar quill clamp to that used in a threaded stem, so they clamp in tight, take the abuse from crashing the bike, and can be un-screwed and removed/replaced when their time has come.
Come to think of it, X-lite makes some Ti ones, too... |
