So many bikes, help me choose one...mtbaddict

I'm 6'1 220lbs and looking for an aggressive trail bike that can handle 3-4 foot drops and jumps under the $2000 range. Here are some of my choices:
Specialized Enduro FSR
Kona Dwag
Giant VT 2
Giant AC 2
Jamis XLT 1.0 or 2.0
KHS FXT Comp 02??

Any advice, pros or cons on these bikes would be greatly appreciated.

The closest shops that will have these bikes are 2-3 hours away. I am trying to narrow it down before making the drive and go look at one.

Thanks!

Because they are longer travel bikes, with hydraulic brakes and coil/oil forks and would suit your drops better IMO.

The Kona Dawg I looked at had V-brakes and was a shorter travel bike, so I ruled it out automatically, especially with you being a big guy.

I couldn't find the KHS bike, so no opinion on that.

In the end I'd say Giant, because I know the larger sized frames are tough, and the adjustable rear-travel is nice, and I really like those big 8" Hayes.

Before you decide, make sure you test ride, fit is going to be critical at your size. If they scratch their heads when you ask them for a test ride, go somewhere else.

Cheers.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Specialized FSR. To be honest I didn't and won't look at it. Butt-ugly bikes in my opinion. Not the best way to judge a bike, but hey, if ya can't even get me in the showroom, what chance do you have of getting me to buy the bike??

Are you sure you were looking at the Kona Dawg? The frame is not V-brake compatible, it is a disc only bike, unless there is a special run of the bike I am unaware of.

All dawgs come with hydraulic disc brakes.
oooops, I think you're right...Cook

....don't know what pic I wuz looking at.

Still would shy away from it though, if a clydesdale, cuz the lower end suspension.

Apologies to Kona.

Cheers.

I would go for the Specialized Enduro FSR. I don't thinks you can go wrong with this proven design and value for your $$. I just bought the Stumpjumper, but I'm not going to do any big drops.
