Anybody ride a 1x9?(4 posts)

Anybody ride a 1x9?dez182
Feb 26, 2003 8:59 AM
I just ordered a new frame, and I'm thinking about building it up as a 1x9. I live in MN, so I don't have to worry about any hellish climbs, and I didn't use any ring but my middle one last year. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any positives or negatives? Post pics, too, if you have 'em.

Thanks,
Dez

If you search using '1x9', you will find a number of postings regarding 1x9 drivetrains over the past few weeks. I just completed my first 1x9 and found 1x1 speed craigs site helpful. http://www.altelco.net/~emenaker/bikeMain.asp?parm=inbred

Enjoy your 1x9.

I use a MRP chain guide on the front (top wheel only)
38T chainring, Nine speed 11-13-15-17-20-13-26-30-34 XTR cassette on the rear.

This works well for most of the local trail riding around Southern Calif, the steep extended mountainous climbs still involve hoofing it.
