| People with cyclocomputer magnets on their spokes. | jtown Feb 27, 2003 10:19 AM | | My magnet for my cordless Cateye that goes on the spokes causes it to vibrate when I get above 15mph. I tried moving it to different spokes and I recently tried to move the magnet further down ... moving it down requires that I move the sensor further away from the computer so I'm a little reluctant to keep moving it down.
Anyone having the same problem? Any solutions?
Thanks! |

Spokes under proper tension don't vibrate or move very much, certainly not enough to knock a magnet loose.
If the magnet is loose, try applying copious amounts of crazy glue gel to the mounting screw/spoke slot. This will secure it and you can also remove the thing later. |
| Use a Sigma Sport wheel magnet | reek Feb 27, 2003 2:41 PM | | Use one of Sigma sports' wheel magnets. It's not the phillips screw on type, it's a friction lock type. Better design. |

| mount the magnet opposite the valve stem for balance | red-haze Feb 27, 2003 2:45 PM | | tho its hard to see how you can feel the weight of the magnet at 15mph. I bet its something else that you are feeling.
good luck

| reworded ... | jtown Feb 27, 2003 4:10 PM | | Thanks for the input guys. The reason I know there is something resonating(vibrating) is because I can hear it. What I hear is the spoke vibrating, not the magnet on the spoke because it's on there really well. I may need to have my spokes tightened cause I haven't had a tune up since 92 when I bought the bike ... (yikes!).
I think I'll try to move the sensor further down towards the hub. I just hope it's still in range down there. Otherwise, I'll send the bike in for a tune up. |
