| Answer... | Travis Bickle Mar 28, 2003 10:45 PM | | GST, probably PST, and a $5.00 handling fee from customs. Have it shipped USPS because couriers like UPS and Fedex have additional charges. |

There's no duty between the US and Canada on goods originating in either country, because of NAFTA. Just PST and GST and the $5 handling charge. And sometimes, if the amount is small enough, they just waive all that. Ditto on the USPS too. |
| Here's something interesting to add.... | YaMon Mar 29, 2003 7:36 AM | | Living here in Jamaica can be a pain, especially when trying to get bike parts. A few weeks ago, a Canadian friend who lives down here asked his Mom to bring in a new Black fork and a few other items. The stuff was ordered from the USA and shipped to Canada, and brought to us, since she was coming on vacation. There was no duty charges when it got to Canada.
One week later, the UN vote occurred where Canada did not back the US going to war. Another package was sent to her from the USA. This package had a lot less value and even smaller. Well you guessed it, there was a $55 CAN$ charge to the package this time.
Not sure if one has something to do with the other, just strange never the less.
Later Mon. |
