Albuquerque riders need your help!(1 post)

Albuquerque riders need your help!Halloween

I live in Albuquerque, NM. The Department of Defense has decided, in the name of "Homeland Security", to fence off & shut down one of our best riding areas, Otero Canyon. This area, which has been featured in Bike Mag, butts up against an unused portion of Kirtland AFB. Even though the area has been used by hikers/bikers for over 20 years with no security issues at all, those in charge feel it now needs to be made off limits.

Here is how I see the situation. How long would an 8 foot chain-link fence in the middle of the woods stop you for if you wanted to get through it? I imagine I could cut my way through in 2 or three minutes, as could any terrorist trying to get to the base. The only difference is that there would be no trail users, and the area sees hundreds a week at this point, to report suspiscious activity.

Please go to www.saveotero.org and sign the petition.

Thanks to those who do sign it,
Michael
