Looking for LBS in NOVA(7 posts)

Looking for LBS in NOVAMazinger
Apr 25, 2003 5:09 AM
Can anyone recommend an LBS in the NOVA (Fairfax county)area?

Looking for a place with a good shop and I don't mind paying a little extra for parts if the service is good.

Thanks!

There are two good shops that I know of in FFX county. Spokes ETC. in Vienna and Washington Bike Center in Fairlakes. Spokes generally stocks higher end parts where as Washington Bike center generally doesn't because its more of a family shop. Both places have great head wrenches at them and MOST(not all) of the employees know what their talking about....

I've had good experiences at Spokes too, and sometimes if you're lucky, the guys at Performance down in FX Circle (by Blockbuster and IHOP) can help you out. I still haven't seen the "new" Washington Bike Center--I remember when they used to have that big one by Pollo Braza up close to H.I. Ribster's in Annandale; maybe when I go pick up my car for the summer I'll check out the Fair Lakes one. I kinda miss Bikes USA at Fair City, I'd just walk over after school and stare at all the parts a 14-year old can't afford...but that was 7 years ago haha. Sorry for the nostalgia rant:P

The Bikes USA in Fair City was good. I had a couple of great experiences there.

I was looking for a road bike and the sales guy was very helpful and knew what he was talking about.

Another time I went there to get a pair of rims trued. I was expecting to leave them there, but the shop guy said he'd do it for me right away.

I did go to Spokes, in Vienna, this past weekend seems like a nice shop.

I'd recommend taking the drive to Georgetown and going to the Bicycle Pro Shop. It's been my first stop for parts and any quirky service problems for a few years now and they always take good care of me. Friendly staff too.

The Bike Lane in Burke is pretty good but it depends on who you get. One guy told me that its normal for tubeless tires to leak air and go flat every couple of days! Get real!! Everyone else there is pretty knowledgeable, though.
