| How do you lube the cables and hosings? | Southride Apr 25, 2003 6:25 PM | | For the lasts years, I`ve been changing both when the triggers get really heavy to push. Since I have a cannondale with the cable routing trough the downtube I must do this often an teflon calbes aren´t cheap (Whish is better: alligator or XTR).
Do you lube them with teflon solid or liquid grease or with other thing? |
| If anything, a dry lube | tl1 Apr 25, 2003 6:55 PM | | Like White Lightning or similar that dries and won't attract dirt. I just change mine regularly (2-3 times per year) and never lube them at all. I stock up on cables and housing when I see them on sale like right now at Nashbar. |
| Triflow or Finish Line Teflon lube... | pimpbot Apr 25, 2003 8:08 PM | | Loosen up yoru cables so you can pull the housing out of the shifter a bit and drip a bunch down the cable into the housing. slide the cable up and down to cycle it in. it may take a while but it will eventually get down the housing.
Personally, I use regular full length nylon lined housing with Teflon cables ($5 each at Rei) with an Avid Rolamajig at the rear derailer. Smooth as greased moose poop.
You may want to lube your shifter ratchets as well. |
| Rolamajig | Steve Krebs Apr 26, 2003 1:48 AM | | Sooo What do you think of your Avid Rolamajig? |
| Works well | pimpbot Apr 27, 2003 1:34 AM | | it really does adds a level of slickness to the shifting. |
