shoes for platform pedals(5 posts)

shoes for platform pedalsjbf

I am looking for advise from users of platform pedals as to what shoes you use/like. I tried on some of the shoes the freeride crowd like (intense, vans) but it's like wearing ski boots! I love my lake 176's with clipless pedals, but they are terrifying to use on platforms. What will grip on platforms, but not be too bulky and heavy to trail riding?

i use a pair of Gravis (made by Burton Snowboards) and they are great. Light weight shoe with a really grippy soft rubber sole. Just about any skateboard style shoe will work. Specialized makes a few and had them on sale for cheap.

I always use either my Saucony running shoes which have a lot of tread on them to grip the pegs on my pedals. THey also are nice and light. If not them, I use my Sambas, theyre nice and light also and have a nice flat bottom for the platform.

I ordered a pair of sixsixone Dually's, but they sent the wrong size. So instead of killing my hiking shoes while I wait for them to send the right size, I went to KMart. I bought a pair of skateboard style sneakers for $9. They work great (grip well) and look good too if you can believe it.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the $75 deal match up.
