Time pedals wearing out shoes?(2 posts)

Time pedals wearing out shoes?rs3o

My Aliums have worn grooves into the soles of my shoes to such an extent that there is some up-and-down play between the pedal and the shoe. Has anyone ever tried putting a thin shim of HDPE or aluminum between the cleat and the sole of the shoe to fix this? The shim would extend beyond the cleat to cover the worn-in grooves in the sole. The shoes are worn but still have some life in them, so I don't particularly want to get new ones.

Definitely put something there. Don't use plastic or aluminum though. I use the stainless steel slotted plates that come with some pedals to protect the shoe and even they wear out fairly fast.
