| seatpost setback question | Jimmy Hoffa May 21, 2003 4:15 PM | | Does this seatpost clamp position look acceptable or should I use a setback post? |
| re: seatpost setback question | Steely May 21, 2003 5:25 PM | | I have been riding my Bontrager seat and Thomson like that for a year and a half and had no problems.
Good luck |
| I prefer a forward MTB saddle for seated climbing | club May 22, 2003 5:19 AM | | since I climb in the saddle, I like a forward position so I can sit on the nose. On road bikes, I position my saddle pretty much all the way back,go figure. Is cushion from your couch stuffed under that saddle cover? It looks pretty plush. |
| yeah, it's plush... | Jimmy Hoffa May 22, 2003 6:56 AM | | ...but I wear shorts that don't have thick padding, that would be overkill. |
| no problem... | logbiter May 22, 2003 5:34 AM | | That's the way I run my saddles, and that's WITH a setback post. *says man w/ a long torso*
the only problem might be if you try to clamp a part of the rail where it isn't straight.
If you decide you want a setback post, I can recommend raceface & the '03 ea-70 easton post.
I had problems with the raceface about 3 times on my hardtail when I'd come down really hard on the rear of the saddle and the XY clamp would slip and saddle tilted up, but I might have broken rails otherwise. |
| re: seatpost setback question | dan white May 22, 2003 12:13 PM | | If you are worried about it, you could get a different saddle to correct the extreme forward rail position. A Selle Flite, for example, would sit much more neutrally (toward middle) on the clamp. |
