| Anyone want to hear a cool story about my new LBS?... | saltybiker May 21, 2003 4:41 PM | | So I went for my daily ride, but decided to take a different trail. Bad choice, the trail was not bike friendly. I probably fell 2-3 times, and in the process messed up my front wheel. So I limped home on my wobbly wheel, and noticed a strange squeak coming from my pedals. Well I was bummed. I am leaving town on Fri., and was looking to get one more day of riding in before I left. Instead of taking my bike to my LBS, which is a bit out of the way, I decided to take it to a shop that is between my apt. and the airport for a convenient pick-up. My LBS usually gets my bike done in a day, which is great, but doesn't matter much since I am leaving. The shop I went is backed up for usually 3-5 days, I have a friend that goes there. I have never bought anything substantial from this shop, I usually just pop in during my lunch break to pick up a mag. or some cables, and I ride a bike they don't sell. I went in expecting to here " you can pick it up tue.", instead the wrench inspected my pedals and trued my wheel while I waited. 10 min later I was out the door with a straight wheel, some bar plugs that got trashed on one of my falls, and inspected pedals, FREE OF CHARGE!!!!!!!
Sorry for the long post, but this experience turned a crappy ride into a great afternoon!

I'm just ribbing ya- sounds like a great experience. They deserve your bidness, yada yada yada.

| when in a rush, a 12 pack works wonders... | Hammerheadbikes May 22, 2003 12:37 PM | | yes, beer works wonders...
we try to do a lot of stuff that can just be done in 10 minutes with the person there, makes both of our lifes simpler..
and we do lots of no charge work like that, builds good will and the start of a relationship and I know it will come back around usually..
good deal
more shops should operate that way and they would have more loyal customers...
