Old 1" Forks?(11 posts)

Old 1" Forks?Ozarkdude

My wife's steel Stumpjumper is still in superb condition but the old Quad 21's mcu's are sticking ferociously (despite a careful cleaning and lube). SO, what options are there for buying a 1" fork or getting this old fork rebuilt? I heard something recently about a specialty outfit composed of old Rock Shox dudes who specialize in rebuilds, but I can't recall the name. Any help?

I think it was Hippie-Tech suspension that has some of the old parts.

There have been a lot of old RS fork bits and forks showing up on E-bay recently. I'd keep an eye out for 'em. Also think the Quad 21's you could use the Eglund Air kits. Might be pricey, but problably easier to find than replacement bits from RS proper.

You might have an easier time replacing the fork with a 'Zocchi. There are some models you can limit the travel on to keep the right geometry (same axle to crown measurement) on the bike. I wasn't able to do this for my bike, so ended up with a new old stock RS Quadra 10.

Good luck.

RT I have an old Bridgestone MB5 that I am slowly rebuilding into a 1X9, she would love an old Judy SL. Drop me an email if you really want rid of it. Thanks.
