| Anyone want wanna buy an Anodized Chameleon? | acm2002 May 21, 2003 10:58 PM | | http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product.asp?number=18207
There it is. Just doesn't say Santa Cruz. |
| Are you sure that's Ano? Could be paint..... | Mackie May 22, 2003 5:46 AM | | A few folks were talking about this frame on Passion the other day. Kitchenware ordered one, so we should have a report back soon. |
| Full report tomorrow. | Kitchenware May 22, 2003 8:52 AM | | I take delivery sometime tomorrow, and if I can get EricTheRed to come over and take some pics of it, I'll post em. (my cam died) I'll also let you know on removal of the Jenson logos. If it's powdercoated, then they will most likely be stickers. But who knows for sure right now. ???

| re: Anyone want wanna buy an Anodized Chameleon? | lifer May 22, 2003 6:08 AM | | I was about to order a new Chameleon, and I saw this one yesterday. It Looks like the santa cruz, but comparing the specs the jenson ways about a half pound more? |
| re: Anyone want wanna buy an Anodized Chameleon? | K2rider62 May 22, 2003 7:46 AM | | The guy I talked to at Jenson yesterday indicated that the frame was powder coated. The weights also seemed to be about the same as what Santa Cruz listed. Although I can't seem to find those weights today to confirm that. SantaCruz UK lists the frame weight as 4.1 lbs. I would assume thats a large. They also say that the frames are 7005 series aluminum. The US site says they use 6066 series. I guess the weight difference could be something as simple as the types of tubes used and how they are manipulated. Or the weight could include the disc brake adapter. Who knows. Still looks like a pretty good deal. |
| I'd say order the 'Cruz anyway. | Kitchenware May 22, 2003 8:58 AM | | I have a Chameleon (the Santa Cruz one) coming as well as one from Jenson. The details are still a bit unclear as to where these (5.0) are made and why Jenson has them. I'd say stick with what works, and SC works.
BTW, weights are NEVER the same on two diff scales. I've weighed lots of parts/frames and 99% of the time its diff from manu specs. I suspect that it's weighed with the tab. |
| I'd say order the 'Cruz anyway. | kinesis-boi May 22, 2003 9:53 AM | | Kinesis makes all the SC Chameleon frames, the Jenson frames are merely rebadged with Jenson logos. Kinesis owns the frame design, they license under many various company names. |
| From the horses mouth... | acm2002 May 22, 2003 11:21 AM | | And yeah after looking closer at the frame it isn't anodized, it's painted. |
| Because it's bolt on with horiz dropouts. (nm) | Kitchenware May 23, 2003 5:53 AM | | |
