Question for Thomson Seatpost Users(4 posts)

Question for Thomson Seatpost UsersWakka

Hi guys, I recently bought a Thomson seatpost, and was wondering if anyone else found the clamp to be a bit narrow in comparison to the rail width on their saddle? Is this normal? Should I just clamp it down to shape the rails? It's just a mm or so too narrow, but still, just wondering, thanks. BTW, I took the clamp itself to Performance with me to test it out, and found that a LOT of saddles (Terry Liberators, WTB's) were too wide in rail width, but the Selle Italia ones were seemingly ok...I'm confused! Thanks again.
The saddle rail distance standard isn't a standard at all.Twilight Error®

Some saddles fit seatposts better than others. If you combination is only 1mm off, don't worry about it, the rails are flexible enough to fit the clamp.

I would not worry about it. Unless your rails are really out of alignment and not fitting into the clamp/cradle at all, just clamp it down and forget about it. If you are concerned about the clamp not covering as much top/side rail surface as some other posts' clamps, trust me, it doesn't matter. Once you get it tightened down, the seat is not going anywhere!
