| re: wrong... | jpre May 22, 2003 5:42 PM | | You would be right if there was only one c, but since there are two it's 'chee'. |
| so why do people call 'em "Zokes" or "Zokies"? | /nm/ May 22, 2003 7:26 PM | | |
| A little Italian 101..... | BrianU May 23, 2003 5:28 AM | | "ci" is pronounced "chee", "chi" is a "k" or a hard "c". If that is wrong, someone needs to let the locals, that I lived with for three years in Sicily, know. Actually, I am surprised that the name Marzocchi hasn't been "Americanized". Ci Ci's Pizza here in the Oklahoma City area goes by See See's Pizza and of course there is the Boston Celtics, which everyone pronounces Boston Seltics.

| What?? | jcw May 23, 2003 5:41 AM | | What do the Celtics have to do with Italian? Anyway Seltics has a better ring to it than Keltics. |
| well | bn May 23, 2003 5:45 AM | | RLinNH and jpre seem to be trying Americanize Marzocchi. BTW, "Celtic" isn't Italian, and "Ci Ci" isn't necessarily Italian either. And I think Zoke or Zokie would quality as an Americanized- or at least lazy man's- version. |
| You never heard of an Italian leprechaun? (nm) | BrianU May 23, 2003 5:31 PM | | |

"ch" is a hard c, no matter whether it's "cch" or "ch"
when it's "cch" you should treat it like "ck"
"cc" is a soft c
"c" is a soft c
go re-learn your Italian, matey. |
