| marzocchi mxr coil 100 mm (2002) | marc673 Jun 17, 2003 8:40 PM | | I have a Specialized Stumpjumper with a RS Judy T2, going to upgrade
to the Marz MXR. I have read some really good feed backs on these forks, any more advice?
Thanks, Marc.... |

I have already converted it to air but I still have the springs so you could easily change it back if you wanted to.

| It is not nearly as | LowCel Jun 19, 2003 4:21 AM | | The air is not nearly as plush. However it does weigh a lot less. One of the downsides of being a weight weenie I guess.
If I were to put it on a bike that I wasn't really concerned about the extra couple of ounces I would definately switch it back over to coil. It responded much better. With it converted to air I am actually losing about 15-20% of the travel because if I set it to use full travel and be softer the thing bobs like crazy. It would probably be about perfect though if you would use one side air and one side coil. That may be the way to go. That is what the person that sold the air conversion to me said he runs and he is very happy with it.

| Great fork | FM or MF Jun 18, 2003 9:40 AM | | I rode one for a while and I loved it. I loved it so much I sold it to my pal and bought an MX-Pro ETA, almost the same fork but with the ETA lock-out type thingy. The MXR actually felt better.
Don't use air, stay with coil. MUCH better ride.
I've had about 7 marzocchi forks, and have found that they all take 6-10 rides to fully break in, and an oil change helps tremendously. The stock oil seems way lighter than the claimed 7.5 weight. Buy new oil at any motorcycle dealer, rather than a bike store. Also, for my weight (175 lbs) I find that running a tiny bit less oil helps me get full travel. |
