| Wish me luck... | MongooseMan Jun 18, 2003 7:32 AM | | Was talking to my wife last night about buying a Santa Cruz Superlight frame. She said that she might buy if for Christmas for me. Now that would be an amazing Christmas present.
I could spend all winter building it up.
Now I can't wait till Christmas!!!!! |
| She is a keeper, thats how my wife is hard to find them.. cool | moab63 Jun 18, 2003 7:37 AM | | |
| I got my wife a Superlight | TruckeeLocal Jun 18, 2003 11:12 AM | | I got my wife a Superlight/Juliana for her birthday. She was so happy with it she got it for Christmas too. In return I ended up with an Ellsworth Id. But Christmas is so far away. Can't she get you a 4th July present ? |
| Her birthday is in July... | MongooseMan Jun 18, 2003 11:49 AM | | I'll be heading to the jewelry store soon. If it's got diamonds, she loves it. |
| I'm probably in better shape than you ... | TruckeeLocal Jun 18, 2003 12:17 PM | | My wife would NOT be happy if I got her shiney stuff unless it says Campagnolo on it. Someone told her I should spend the equivalent of two months income for an engagement ring and she said she wouldn't marry me if I did ! In fact she wants some Shimano 646 pedals for her birthday 'cause she rides with those nasty plastic things that come with some Shimano pedals and I've told her that they're not good for pedalling on single-track - she doesn't like clipping in on technical sections. Maybe I'll get her a spare wheelset too. Or a new saucepan. But her birthday is so far away - September. |
| My wife hates mountain biking... | MongooseMan Jun 18, 2003 12:41 PM | | Her dad used to make her and her sister ride on a local trail 8 miles in the rain through mud and creek crossing on old steel single speed bikes. We're talking 12 year old girls here. They had to push up hills and through the mud while he rode his geared mountian bike. He would also ride off and leave them on the trail.
I've tried to get her to ride but it's a dead issue.
At least she understands my love of riding and lets me do whatever I like.
By the way did I mention she hates her father. |
| My wife hates mountain biking...with me | TruckeeLocal Jun 18, 2003 1:02 PM | | I'm a climber, she's a single-track kind of gal. By the way my father made me cycle to and from school every day of my life. And we lived at the top of a 250' hill. I used to turn my 3 speed into a single speed to see if I could make it up the hill. After a while I succeeded and my legs show it. Now that's not to say I didn't hate parts of my father, he was an alcoholic. Meanwhile my wife used to go to the gym with her father. He likes me 'cause I get him out of going to the gym so he can stay home with me and drink beer. Like father like son. Much to my wife's disgust. |
| My wife hated her dad too | RickC5 Jun 18, 2003 1:21 PM | | At least he's dead now.
What your wife's dad did to the two girls should fall into some category of "abuse", shouldn't it? |
| But....but..... | GirchyGirchy Jun 18, 2003 6:17 PM | | What would you do about your handle?
Brian
PS-My Mongoose (The '84 I posted about in passion a while back) is making a trip to a welder tomorrow for an estimate on repairing the crack in her frame. Wish her luck :( |
| Yeah, I thought about that... | MongooseMan Jun 19, 2003 4:28 AM | | Here are some handles I've been kicking around.
Santa Cruzin
Superman
The Light
Or my favorite and not even bike related:
Seether (after my favorite Veruca Salt song)
PS-Not sure how much longer my Mongoose will last, the rear linkage is twisted and is now rubbing the seat tube. I've had the rear off the bike trying to find the problem but with no success.
Oh well, gives me a good reason to buy a new frame. |
| My wife is the best! | Crash_FLMB Jun 19, 2003 5:06 AM | | She bought me an Id for my first father's day. AND even let me get it early. I got it in March. She's always doing stuff like that for me. |
