| anyone other than me looking forward to these | berserker190 Jun 18, 2003 2:20 PM | | New crank bros pedal. Looks like it will compete with the time Z. Available in August |
| thinking out loud | atlanta Jun 18, 2003 6:21 PM | | Isn't one of the best things about eggbeaters the four-sided engagement? This seems like it would eliminate that perk.. Just thinking out loud. |
| Wait! Take that one step further... | næstep Jun 18, 2003 6:34 PM | | ...and consider the World's First Four Sided Platform Pedal!
I think you're on to something!

| talking out loud | tlg Jun 19, 2003 5:02 AM | | If the inner portion rotates independantly of the platform, then essentially you'd still have 4-sided engagement. If they're fixed together, then yea you're only getting half the perk. |
| I don't know... | kevl Jun 19, 2003 12:29 PM | | Other than the 4-sided engagement, wouldn't there be a problem with cleat clearance?
Now, I've not ridden nor played with those, but my Eggs are nice because the footbed on my shoes are just about on the spindle. If I were to wear the same shoes with that pedal, I'd probably have to cut off most of the tread at the ball of my foot. Then I'd just as well be wearing road shoes. Keep in mind, the documentation for Eggs now say that for some shoes the tread may need to be trimmed anyways. Are they redesigning the cleats too or would they work with the ones I have now?
Still, they could be kind of nice.
