Does anyone know this bike's history as far as good or bad. It's a Huffy IRONMAN_KAHUNA (purple) Aluminum Professional Series, Very light(34 lbs). With a stock SR Doutrack 7006 fork suspension and a lot of Shimano low end components (i.e. Alivio, Altus C-10, Gripshift, DYNA Hub, Shimano Casette, Shimano Cantliver brakes, Vuelta (RODI) alloy rims. Bought it from Sports Authority (Paramus, NJ) for $349... 3 years ago? Does anyone there know anything about this bike's review? Please let me know. Thanks

Hate to say it, but you got ripped off. Huffy is not known for making great bikes. Im surprised any Huffy would ever cost that much. 34 lbs? Thats a tank, not light at all unless you are used to bikes that weight even more, is that possible? Problem is you are either stuck with riding it or giving it away. I bet you would be hard pressed to find someone to pay more than $50 for it. Anyways, the components arent all that terrible. I have yet to find anything truly crappy that is made by Shimano. Alivio/Altus stuff should work well and last pretty long. Hopefully YOU like the bike and thats all that matters.

Those were interesting days.... that was when Huffy thought they could compete with the local bike shops selling high end stuff like Trek and Specialized, but it didn't work out. I mean c'mon, who is going to pay $400 for a Huffy??? (no offense). The big problem is the bikes are still assembled by a kid who last rode a bike when he was 14 and is getting paid $6.75/hr to turn a wrench. And yes, 34lbs is very heavy for a cross country hardtail!

Well, I guess I'm stuck with this bike for now until I could fork up a dough for a better, lighter one. But compare to cro-moly bikes, this is light. Other than it is a Huffy. The Aluminum tubing frame is decent. I'll just install some parts like a Rockshox seat post, change the brakes to v-lever (cheap one), Maybe a cheap Rockshox fork. I'll keep the gripshift for now. I got used to it. And so is some of the Shimano components. Thanks for the input guys... take care!
Cromoly vs. AluminumSexly

Actually the idea that Cromoly is heavier than aluminum is actually a common misconception. I have ridden a few 26lbs geared mountain bikes with steel (cromoly) frames, and I know there are some lighter than that. Weight has to do more with the quality of the frame build, and the quality of the materials. I think my hardtail aluminum is around 28lbs stripped down to the essentials (no water bottle, seat pack, computer, etc). Gripshift is fine, just get the bike tuned up and looked at by a local bike shop, the guys at Sports Authority probably didn't put it together right and check stuff like the chain length and the derailleur adjustments. It doesn't sound like a terrible bike, but don't put any real money into it.

FYI: I just placed the bike on a scale used for postal mails. It weighs about 26.5 lbs. I guess it was lighter than I thought. Sorry for the wrong info.
