First off, keep it low key or it will be plowed in no time. If it's not an "out of the way" type field your jumps won't last long if they are very visible. I've used garbage, litter, rocks and even dead animals to get things started. Use anything solid or that will pack down solid. No grass clumps or weed piles. Look over your site well, and with other people (more ideas) to find natural lines to build on so you don't have to shovel/move dirt very far. Of course pure dirt is best, but if you resort to cover mounds of crap be sure it's solid (stable) and cover it with lot's of dirt. It's a good method when good dirt is scarce and hard to move or come by. Use wood panel scraps and wood stakes to help hold dirt in the right places in necessary. Once it's been thoroughly soaked down and packed the wood can be removed. When doing this always make it (the ramp or landing) wider and deeper than needed because some shaping may need to be done. Good luck!

Agree w/last post plus make sure you've got well planned jumps and landings. A misplaced jump is almost worthless. Maybe ride around then drop something where you think a jump should be, etc.
