Any clubs/contacts/messegeboards in the Northern Ontario Area?
I'm staying near the Georgian Bay area for a week, (about 3 hours north of Toronto),looking for MTB'rs riding.
Any help appreciated

.....covers a large area. There is much riding at Collingwood at its southern end and the bike shops in town can point you in (up?) the right direction to the big ski resort escarpment. Going further north (around the east side of course) you won't hit much in the line of civilization until the North Bay/Sudbury arear where clubs exist.

To the SE of the bay you will find the Barrie area with Hardwood Hills which is a dedicated mtb center.
It is the Parry Sound area im staying indcdrtbker

I'm 10 min from Parry Sound. (horseshoe Lake) I did ride at the "Porcupine Ridge" near the Santas Village, It was, as I recall, about a 45 min drive from where Im staying, Any of the trails you reference same distance? Contacts? Local Clubs to call?

thanks for the reply

.....lots of stuff over in the Bracebridge area and I think there is even a bike shop there who might help. Try Trail Reviews here at mtbr.

I've done a couple of big long Enduros in the BB area a few years ago but I've no idea just where we went.

The Collingwoood trails I mentioned are way further than that.

I'm 3-4 hours SW from you so I can't be a whole load of help.

Best riding I've experienced so far in Ontario. Find the bikeshop in Bracebridge and ask the staff for directions....or look up Santa Clause Village on a tourist map, cuz it's right across the road from that. Lots of up and down, lots of rock and a healthy dose of man-made madness.

Cheers

Sorry, I thought you were gone for good. Haven't seen you post here in weeks!

In addition to Porcupine Ridge, there's Buckwallow, which is a great little dedicated mtn bike centre, and there's Hidden Valley, which has some nice trails and a little freeride/trials park. Another vote for Hardwood Hills, which is really nice although it's probably an hour or two south of you, and nearby Mansfield is pretty good too. Grandview Inn near Huntsville is supposed to have some mtn bike trails, but I haven't tried them - I heard they're pretty soggy.

Cook, are we riding this weekend? Maybe early Sunday morning? Or how about a dusk-niteride tonight (Thursday)?
Actually, it's been more like months.....Cook

....between moving and looking for work and my dog getting run over and my wife leaving me and (oh sorry, I think that's a country song).....I haven't had a good bruise in months. Been feeling a little out of the loop. But now I'm settled in and ready to eat bark once again, so I'll call you and we can trade some pain. You can make my lungs burn, and I'll send you to the ER at St. Joe's.

Cheers.

To answer your question about riding.....I'm still not confident with my nite-lights. Will have to remedy that soon. I have an appointment with a chimney sweep on Sat (I'm not kidding) but would be good to go for Sunday morn. Ryan is trying to convince me to do this road-trip-slash-beer-drinking-slash-sun-burn-slash-hangover thing on the weekend......an 80k jaunt through country roads with a bunch of out of shape bikers (I include myself in this group) but since all I envision is pain and eating the front bumper off an '86 Chevy, I'm going to pass.
