| Intense Tracer or Haro XCS | milhouse Jul 16, 2003 6:55 PM | | I built up a Haro XCS witch is identical to the Tracer and built by Intense. It has an FSR rear suspension design that soaks up big hits (within reason for XC use). I put a 5-inch adjustable travel fork, short stem, riser bars, disk brakes and free ride rims. I regularly do 4 foot drops and have cleared 15 feet on dirt jumps without a problem and have even taken it down hilling several times at Mountain Creek. Then when I have to pedal back up (not @ Mt. Creek), I lower my fork travel and lock out the rear and it climbs like a dream. Like I mentioned in a letter below, I have broken 3 other frames before I wound up with the Haro, and haven't had a problem in the past 2 or 3 years and thousands of miles. P.S. I'm 6 foot and 180 pounds (not a light weight). Good luck in your search for your perfect frame. |

| re: Best bikes for agressive trial riding? | gomez75 Jul 17, 2003 10:11 AM | | all depends on how much you want to spend, how much you weigh, what kind of riding will you be doing, drops, rocks and roots, shuttling, urban, their is a bike out there that excells in each of those areas, personally i like the simplicity and cost of a single pivot with a stable platform shock. go with a ellsworth joker, isis, or santa cruz heckler, or bullitt, for less money the haro extreme line is tough to beat |

| re: Best bikes for agressive trial riding? | kurtdb1 Jul 17, 2003 2:59 PM | | I'll re-second the third (ha ha) for the Enduro line. i have an Enduro Pro (2002, pre 2002 had frame problems m(fixed)) and I am definately no light-weight at 210 lbs @ 6ft. The Pro lets me climb things and haul A$$ down that would not have before on my 2-3 inch travel GT. The only thing I would suggest if you go for the Enduro is; once you find your sweet spot (set-up), mark it...because once you start twisting knobs and adjusting rebound it can get pretty crazy. if you spend the money for the Pro version $3000.00 + you also may want to check out Santa Cruz. I bought the pro because my local bike shop offers lifetime free service and they cut me good deals (by them lunch every once and a while...it pays off) oh yah...Specialized also offers lifetime warranty on the frame too. good luck. |
