WHEN to change o-rings on float rl air shockjeb
Jul 16, 2003 8:32 PM
maybe it is just me, but it feel like my float rl air shock, has some stiction, should i rebuild it whith a new air sleeve rebuild kit?, or should that only be done if it looses air? maybe i use the wrong grease(every 8 ride), i can get hold of finish line and pedros at hte momement, but dont really know what type it should be. i had it for almost a year now. but again can just be that is a little picky..

I've always just waited until they start to lose air or the lockout stops working. But then I've never noticed an increase in stiction as the seals wear, and common sense says that stiction should decrease as the seals wear. Also, what and how are you greasing every 8 rides? I've only use Slick Honey or similar lube applied internally (ie need to take shock apart). Any lube applied externally (to the shaft) will probably just result in attracting more dirt and wearing out the seals faster. But if you're in doubt, just rebuild the darn thing, it's cheap and easy.
