BIZ TRIP: Got A Day Off In Oakland, CA... NEED TO RIDEember1

Howdy,
I find myself with a day off in the middle of a business trip in Oakland, CA. I need info on where to rent and ride. I am an intermediate East Coast rider looking to hit up a good trail here in the Bay Area.
If you know where I can rent (brought gear need bike) and ride, please post your suggestions ASAP.
Again, I am in Oakland and unfortunately, getting to a car is kinda tough... If need be I will end up renting one to ride. BART is an option.
Lots of options, depends on how far you wantGakster

to drive.

I ride mainly on the Peninsula, South Bay and Santa Cruz.

www.openspace.org have trail maps.

Skeggs Pt (aka El Corte de Madera) - One of the best on the Peninsula. Single track, fireroads. Technical, streneuos clibs, has it all.

Saratoga Gap,Long Ridge & Table Mtn - Not quite as technical as Skeggs but nice too.

Soquel Demo Forest (Santa Cruz) - Probably not as easy to find as the other two above, but nice riding there too.

Other East Bay folks may chime in ....

Enjoy,
Gak

I know for a fact that Alameda Bikes (510) 521-0070 has demo bikes. From the bike shop you can either take the bus (AC transit) or ride up to Joaquin Miller or Redwood Regional Parks.

Seeing how you have access to a computer go to www.actransit.org. look up AC service from Alameda via fruitvale, lincoln and Joaquin or use the www.transitinfo.org/cgi-bin/taketransit? or access the MTC.org site and link to the transit trip planner.
