Can anyone help me answer a question on crank clearance? I just mounted Continental Grand Prix 26x1" on my x-small Titus HCR.I'm using an XT 175mm crank with 959 pedals. The problem is if it is a problem that my crank is now 2 1/2 to 3" off the ground. Is this safe to ride like this?I'm only going to use the bike on road will I get killed if my pedals hit on a sharp turn in case I don't straighten out the pedals?

The typical road bike doesn't have much more crank to ground clearance than you currently have. You'll learn very quickly how sharp of a turn you can take without the pedals 'straight'. I would use this as a training tool to teach yourself to put the outside crank down on every turn. If you get the hang of that, then you can start weighting the outside crank when turning. That's when you can really start carving turns.
