Giant Warranty Experiences Anyone????(6 posts)

Giant Warranty Experiences Anyone????chomp
Aug 15, 2003 5:53 AM
Hey there,

Have a 2002 Giant AC3...was only available in Canada and Australia I believe...

I cracked the frame last night doing some very light XC riding. The frame cracked at the weld on the chainstay near the crank. I could not believe it.

If people have had any Giant warranty experiences I would be interested in hearing them. I just want to get a warranty replacement ASAP and go about it in the most efficient manner.

Thanks for any input!

When I broke my NRS frame, I took it to LBS and let them look at it then I stripped the frame and gave it to LBS. Took less than 7 days to get new frame. Wally

Cool...

Did you have to pay shipping and any labour??? Or did warranty cover this as well??

Giant's warranty department has almost single-handedly sold me on the company. I work as a mechanic for one of Giant's largest dealers, so I do a lot of work with Giant bikes and their warranty department. They are always fair about their bikes, and are generally much more interested in getting their customers a bike that works and they're happy with than saving nickels and dimes by fighting with their customers.

Yesterday we had a customer whose V-brake boss got destroyed, rendering her (inexpensive) comfort bike frame useless. Typically this would be a "send it back to us" or "we'll send you a new frame in xx weeks" from other companies. Giant's immediate response? "Give her a brand new bike and we'll ship you [the dealer] a new one for free."

Ask for Taylor or Jonathan in warranty if you call. 1-800-US-GIANT. Good company, excellent service. Ride away happy.

Enjoy the ride.

Encouraging! I am in Canada, can you supply a Cdn #?

Thanks,

As a mechanic, do you see any replacements issues since I bought it second hand. The bike was 3 months old when I bought it from a guy. I have his original reciept, and everything. I hope it is not an issue.
