| Giant AC Frame Warranty Question | chomp Aug 15, 2003 10:18 AM | | Regarding the cracked Giant AC frame...
Thanks for the words below...encouraging...here is what I am worried about...I don't think it should matter...but you never know, I guess
I would think it should not matter a single bit that I am the second owner of the bike, right? I bought it barely used off some guy. It is a Giant product, I have the original reciept from the guy I bought it from, 1 and a half years old. It is like a used car...you get the balance of the warranty, should you not?
The bike store person thought it might be a sticky point with Giant?
I sure hope not!!!
Any thoughts?? |
| don't tell them you are the 2nd owner | gusgus Aug 15, 2003 10:44 AM | | don't tell them you are the second owner.
many bike warranties are not transferable.
tell them that person bought you the bike as a gift and that is why their name appears on the bill of sale and not yours. so that would make you the original owner to them.
i don't know what giant's warranty policy is, but don't risk losing out on a frame repair/replacement over a technicality like this.
when in doubt, blur the truth.

| don't tell them you are the 2nd owner | Cog Aug 17, 2003 5:48 PM | | I have not read Giant's warranty policy, but from other ones I have read, Giant would appear to have the "legal right" to deny your warranty claim. That is the reason why I laugh when I see people selling their warranty or just like new frames at a price close to what I could get a new one for. I like the guy's idea listed above as it seems plausable and I don't think Giant is going to go out of thier way to try deny a claim. |
