Need help with Jamis Dakar 2001 bushings/bearings...Russ-Ale

a buddy of mine has the 2001 Dakar Sport and the bushings are toast in the main pivot. He called Jamis and was told $80 for a replacement kit. Seems pretty steep to me! So, does anyone know of an aftermarket kit or bearings that could replace the bushings in the main pivot. Any info greatly appreciated.
