suggestion for tire pressure. I have a specialized xc pro fsr and am running the 2.1 panaracer xc pro's. What do you think an optimal tire pressure would be for racing on very dry and loose singletrack. No roots, mostly grass and a few rocks......Any suggestions?

A highest pressure I've ever seen a mountain bike tire (26X2.1) take is 80 psi (pounds per square inch). Either it's a typo by bridgerboy or he thought you meant air pressure in the fork for someone who weighs about 200 lbs.

Anyway, some people go as low as 35 psi, sometimes even lower. I ride with my tires at 55 psi.

It depends on your weight and the kind of riding you do. Some people even pump up the front tire harder than the rear.

You just have to try different pressures--carry a mini-pump with a gauge on it--and see what works best for you.
