Tire Pressure? What PSI should I run.........(3 posts)

Tire Pressure? What PSI should I run.........Hit the Dirt
Sep 18, 2003 11:01 AM
hey all
I a looking for some advice on tire PSI. I just put a 2.3 Conti Vertical Portection on the front and a 2.24 WTB Mutano Raptor on the rear of my Yeti ASR. I mostly ride loose rock and dirt around the front range of Colorado. I am a cross country/ trail rider, no big drops. Any suggestions? Can you run them lower than the recommended?

Thanks

I have the Conti Verts front and back. Weigh in at about 160lbs, Ells Truth, Fox F100X in front.

So far for technical single tracks, medium to hard soil, rocks and roots I find lower is better- around 35-40psi. For hardpack wider fire road riding, back up to 40-45psi. Since my tires are still kind of new (tread blocks are still full height) the higher pressures make them seem a bit squirrelly in the corners on harder surfaces.
depends on how heavy you are...RVM

I'm about 130 and I can run 20 psi front and back on 2.1 Panaracer Fire XC Pros on a hardtail without worrying too much about pinch flats...
