| tyre slippage | Greg Sep 19, 2003 2:08 AM | | I have the good fortune to be living in the Alps, riding lots of technical singletrack. Problem is my front tyre keeps slipping round the rim on the descents, pulling the inner tube round and ripping out the valve. Stopping 2 or 3 time per descent is getting to be a bore. I'm riding a GT Zaskar LE with SID SL's, Mavic 517's and a variety of front tyres, including 2.1'' Panaracer Fire XC pro's and Conti's. I've tried different rim tapes, different tyres and different pressures, but all to no avail.
Has anyone got any ideas how to cure the problem? I'm only riding slow, old school XC style for goodness sake! |

| Liberal use of talcum powder worked for me | NuMexJoe Sep 19, 2003 11:34 AM | | Was having the same problem, but now keep a shaker bottle of Johnson's Baby Powder on the workbench. Apply it liberally to the tube and also the inside of the tire, and the tube will not get dragged around as the tire moves on the rim. YMMV,
