changing to different brand rim-will it work?mhike

I have a spare rim from a different manufacturer and I want to replace my damaged mavic rim with.

The spoke lengths for the mavic are left 260.4 and right 261.5.
The replacement is left 263.4 and right 264.4

Will I be able to use this rim, or should I get a replacement mavic?

I'm trying to keep costs down-I'm a little tapped out.
I think that's pushing it...Metroid

I'm in the same boat right now. My new rims have a larger ERD than the old rims and the spokes aren't quite long enough. I got the wheel pretty well tension and I can still see the threads. I don't think you'll have enough spoke threads either. You could try it though to make sure.

Alternatively, you could just buy new spokes for the rim you already have. This will be about $20 and you would have a whole new wheel build. If your LBS isn't helpful Mike at oddsandendos.com has excellent prices on loose spokes that includes your choice of nipple.
