| squeaky brakes? | sstaurus Sep 19, 2003 3:37 PM | | What causes squeaky brakes even when the rim and pads are completely dry? For the life of me I can't figure out why the front brakes on my bike squeal, and can't get them to stop. They aren't at the wear line either. Do I just have to replace them? The wheel is really slightly out-of-round from a bad spill I had, but that shouldn't cause it. They are regular side-pull brakes.
Anyway, any guesses are welcome thanks! |

Try aligning the pads so that the back of the pads make contact with the rim first. The difference in the alignment is minimal something like the depth of a dime. I think that should solve your problem. I cant remember where I read that. While your at it clean your rims.... |

Try toeing them in. REad up on Vbrakes at sheldonbrown.com
