| Homegrown Parts | Pitbull Oct 20, 2003 6:31 PM | | Hey All,
I've recently obtained a pre-1999 homegrown hardtail. I am looking for a rear derailluer hanger .... just in case. I also have a 2001 homegrown hardtail, but it uses a different hanger and I have plenty of those. If anyone with any sort of info could let me know where to go I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks !!! |

The parts you seek should be avaible through your authorized schwinn dealer. Pacific Bicycles are the current owners and they do some in stock. Another thing it is the same hanger used the modern schwinns (mesas for sure, and other wal-mart varieties).... I know I've checked and they do work. So your local schwinn dealer should be able to hook you up. |
| BETD? | EricTheRed Oct 20, 2003 9:46 PM | | maybe BETD they are an english company, i'd heard they had or can make them not sure on price though. |
| BETD? | Pitbull Oct 21, 2003 7:38 AM | | Thanks ......... it gives me a direction. |
| Wheels Manufacturing.... | Fast Freddy Oct 21, 2003 5:44 AM | | Through any bike shop or online from AEBike, any place that has the online QBP Catalog.
The one you need for the older Homegrown is #7, and the one you need for the newer Homegrown's is #3 I beleive. No positive about hte new ones because I've never had a new one.
I have a extra #7 hanger that I don't have a frame for anymore - It's new - and if your interested let me know - I'll take a loss and beat any price you can find.
Hope that helps

good luck,

If you can, could you give me time period on when you completed this transaction ??? I contacted Pacific cycles directly in July of last summer and was told I would have to work through an authorized dealer. I will try again, but if you were able to achieve this previous to the time I tried, it may not be feasible. If the time in which you completed this transaction is after the date mentioned I am sure I would get lucky. Thanks. |
| re: Homegrown Parts | head Oct 21, 2003 11:28 AM | | pretty sure it was late last fall when i ordered them...so that would be after you tried.
as i recall, the folks at pacific asked me where i live and i told them. then they looked up all of the authorized schwinn dealers in the region and asked me how close they are to me. the nearest one happened to be about an hour and a half away so they said "okay that's too far, we can ship directly to you then."
there used to be a schwinn dealer in my town but they stopped selling after the buyout so i guess it worked out well for me. hopefully it will work for you as well.
good luck,
