okay, in the market for a bike for less than $1K. Any feedback on which Brand and model that is best bang for the buck. Thanks

And it depends on what you are looking for...

Are you looking for a hardtail that can take some abuse, a XC Dually, entry level bike, or something else?

First thing. Most bikes in the price range of under $1000 will have similar parts (at similar prices), regardless of what type you are looking at so get the one that fits you best. Fit for application as well as physically.

Also look at the closeouts that the local shops are having. There are new toys every year, but honestly most stuff is not 'must have' and a year old bike can save some serious coin.

p.s. Locally I can get a Kona or a Giant under $1K, but don't think I could get a Tomac for less than that.

I have an 03 98 pro issue and I don't think I could've made a better choice, regardless of price.

It's a great all arounder, very stiff, doesn't bob while standing (w/o propedal), the new ones will have propedal. It looks good with the machined linkages. The frame (18") is about 5.6 pounds with shock and f.d.

Customer service is excellent. Chris has gone out of his way to help me.

I've heard good things about revolvers, but I wanted more travel.
The Buckshot is really good, too. Those machined linkages are gorgeous on it, with all the webbing.

Check ebay for fully built up tomacs. Just not the shocks are different on all levels. The basic ones have no adjustment, next has lockout only (no rebound), pros have rebound and lockout.

generally speaking, giant bikes at any price point usually have a little better parts spec. they are such a large manufacturer that they get better pricing.
