| Shifter Cable Wearing A Groove.... | Egg Oct 21, 2003 9:00 AM | | Into the crown of my fork just below my headset, anyone have suggestions on protecting that area from the rub? the groove is becoming substantial (maybe 1/16" deep now) and i don't want to compromise the strength of the crown. |
| Any heavy vinyl tape... | Lucky Oct 21, 2003 9:13 AM | | like a couple layers of electrical tape or Frame Saver tape on the crown. When it starts to wear, peel off and replace. You could use the ubiquitous duct tape, but with the threads in it, it starts looking ratty pretty quick.

| On the crown, over the groove. | Lucky Oct 22, 2003 6:15 AM | | As someone else suggested, your cables may be too long if they hang down far enough to touch the crown. Have that checked out, too.

| got any old tubes? | pfunk Oct 21, 2003 10:56 AM | | I had a spot on my fork that was rubbing on our bike rack. I just cut a piece from an old tube, took the wheel off and slid it on, then used a zip tie. Works great |
