| Hey can I choose all of the above??? | Mr Blur Oct 21, 2003 6:12 PM | | Hey all thanks for the replys. ( I think ) Scenario: Apartment Unit with absolutely nothing to bolt it down to. Also all closet doors have hinges outside the door! lol MR Blur sleeps in living room attached to a Park Tool Consumer WorkStand. The Only protection I've got is a Windows XP 2.4 GHZ 40gig HD Computer w/ Motion Detection Software..but if they take that too I'm up shit creek!!! lol. Tomorrow Question? Personal Security out in the mean streets!
Sincerely Yours,
Clueless

I don't know about you guys but my bike comes inside with me. I won't take the chance of leaving it outside. I'm just short of giving it a pillow and blanket at night!

"Huffy stickers"
or whatever the cheap department store brand of bicycles is where you live.
Also, numerous U locks.
Nothing to lock to? How about the gas or water meter. Set a post in the ground with one bag of cement. Doesnt need to be big, like a one and a half inch rigid galvanized pipe should be enough, then drill a hole, or epoxy a T on the top.
Why can't you just bring it in with you?

"Lock it in a closet"
Of course, if someone _really_ wants your bike, they'll find a way to get it. If nothing else, make sure your renters insurance is up to date. And keep documents on the value of your bike and make sure you have the serial number recorded.

"Lock it to other objects in the closet"
So it makes it almost impossible to remove the bike from the closet. Even unlocking my locks, it's still hard to get my bike out of the closet, and that's while being calm, never mind during a B&E

"re: Are you saying..."
that you are worried that thieves will break into your place and steal your bike? Aren't you worried about the rest of your stuff?
OK, here's my idea: buy the biggest, heaviest, most beat up old cruiser bike you can find. Hopefully it weighs at least 75 lbs. Add a rack and bolt on some scrap iron if you need to. Bring it into your livingroom and U-lock it to your Blur. Moving that mess will be such a headache that nobody will touch it. Park the cruiser outside when you are home and need the space. Plus you can ride the cruiser when the weather is bad, or you just need to go to the corner store.

| re: Hey can I choose all of the above??? | Michael Dart Oct 21, 2003 7:20 PM | | You can secure the outside hinged closet doors by pinning the hinges with headless screws that protrude into the door at least 1/2 inch.
