| where to ride in Southwest in spring | Patrick889 Nov 25, 2003 1:02 PM | | Hi,
Anyone have good recommendations of where to ride in the southwest in March? I'm an east-coaster and rode Moab last spring and I want to go back to something similar, but am looking a little further south/warmer. Sedona looks fun but chilly in March, and I'm guessing Durango is freezing. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

South Mountain has the most to offer in Phoenix, but there are several other places to go that are good. I also think Sedona will be nice in March and not too cold. For some reason the sun is more powerful here in Arizona than other places, even though the temp. is the same. That is, it hurts the skin here more with the same temps. Maybe thinner air/humidity. |

Phoenix has lots of good single track trails - South Mountain, Phoenix Mtn Preserve (Trail 100), White Tanks, Superstitions, etc. I am not all that familiar with Tucson, but I know they have some stellar single track down there as well.
Sedona is risky between November and March. The daytime temps can be mild (50's), or it can be snowing. You never know what you are giong to get...
If you decide to come to Phoenix, you can always make a day trip to Sedona if the weather is nice. If is cold, then you can hang out in Phoenix and bike.
