Just curious....the LBS is putting a no-name POS saddle and grips on my friends new bike...the SC site is down for "upgrade to 04 specs"....don't know what they spec, but thought it was at least WTB.

What model santa cruz is your friend getting? I got an '03 Blur from Cambria (www.cambriabike.com) this year. The build kit came with a Titec Ithys Gove Titanium Black. I went for a WTB laser V saddle instead. According to Cambria's web site the '04 Blurs will have a Fizik Gobi Titanium Black saddle.

Hope this helps
Yes that helps-thx-nmAnonymous Bosch

SC doesn't sell complete bikes....Ricko

...Like Trek, Specialized, Giant etc. They seel the frames to a builder (such as your LBS) and they put whatever components that you (or THEY in this case) want to put on them.

SC doesn't dictate what parts that a builder puts on their frames. If your friend doesn't like the cheesy seat he should hash that issue out before he forks over the green.
SC DOES sell complete bikes....VOrman

If you looked a their old web site they have specific groups that you can get with each frame they supply. They are called SPX, XTR, R and a few other names and they have specific parts to each group. That is not to say that you cannot just order a frame and custom spec it yourself. I think the major manufacturers may do that on their upper end bikes but who wants to buy a $1000 specialized frame. Just order the frame and custom spec it or see if your LBS would let you swap parts for some minor change. I think that Ithys saddle sucks but its a butt preference thing. I like my old WTB SST98 and am floggin' it until it dies.

SC sells complete bikes. Check their website. The build kit specifies EVERY component. They have a varity of kits, Super-X
Super-X Disc, Super-X Disc-FR, DH, etc.
I am personally familiar with this. Thank you.

Edit- the SC site is currently overhauling build kit specs right now, so it's not up.
Wooops, my mistake...Ricko

Thought they just sold frames like Ellsworth, Foes etc.

Still though, if you don't like the the saddle that the shop's putting on you oughta' be able to work something out with them.
totally, sorry if I came off like a deek!........Anonymous Bosch
