I'm 5ft 4in. and am riding with a stock 175mm crank.Everyone says I should go to 170mm cranks. Will this really help my riding and will it save my knees? Before I spent a couple of hundred dollars I want to know if this will really make a differance.

It might help you spin better, but I don't think it'll help your knees though I could be wrong. If you feel comforable on the 175s, I'd keep them, if not you don't need to spent hundreds to find out. You can pick up a set of cheap used 170s on ebay (less than $50) just to try out if you want and if you like em, throw em on a second bike or sell them and buy some better ones.
