I have the opportunity to pick up a stock 99 Kona Stinky in fairly good shape for around $450.00. It is not my type of bike as I am a xc rider. I thought I might be able to sell it on ebay and apply the profits to my new fs fund. Do you think it will be worth it and any ideas what it may go for?

If one could get a whole new one for $1249 more with a full warranty, I'm not sure there's any room there for any profit on a bike essentially at the end of it's life, about 5 years?

is a major pain in the a$$. I've been involved in buying or selling 4 bikes, UPS mangled two of them. Don't think because you buy insurance
you're covered, they have very stringent packing requirements that most people don't follow. Most bikes cost $60 to $100 to ship, don't forget about that.

I wouldn't bother.

I did a search on ebay and the average closing price for a 2002 Stinky is $675. There was a 2000 that had an opening bid of $500 that nobody bid on. I don't think you'd get much more than $450 for a '99.

If it's in really good shape, and you were going to ride it yourself, that'd be a different story.
Thanks for the advice! I will pass on it. (NM)bghtn

That did not look right when I read it again. Thanks very much for the advice.
