with a 35" inseam, i've been riding an 18.75" hardtail with my seatpost sitting about 28cm out of the seat tube...

what would i lose if i went up in size on my bike to 20", and what could I gain, assuming toptube remains the same (obviously angles drop some)

If the top tube stays exactly the same, and the seat tube is lengthened, the important angles (head tube and seat tube) could easily stay exactly the same (there's no reason that they'd have to change), and the only changes to the bike would be:

- less standover
- the handlebars might be higher if a taller head tube was used
