Looking for a great weekend trip within 5-6 hours of Chicago. Love super crazy tight single track and need find the right trails. Camping would be involved and looking for some advice. Thanks

In Michigan's upper peninsula. There are trails everywhere from mellow XC (Harlow Lake area) to technical XC/Enduro (Bareback Mt. area and Mt.Marquette) to nutty freeride with built stunts (Benson and other lesser-known places). Plenty of camping, big woods, some really cool overlooks (many of them on the trails) and plenty of other stuff to do besides biking (although I doubt you'll get bored with the riding). Lakeshore Bike is the place to go for directions and Tourist Park or Harlow Lake north of town have good campgrounds.

Two good, technical trails in Indiana. One is out east (still meats your criteria. It is doinit outdoors. Has rock gardens, drops, climbs, fun, twisting downs, etc. It was washed out from the rains earlier, but is either back in shape or close. Call before going www.doinitoutdoors.com. We are camping there in a few weeks. It is close to hueston woods (45 min) and Brookville Lake. Get a paddle in as well.

Valley branch is also very technical, and fun. Has camping and is close to Nebo Ridge and Gnaw bone. I have heard several people in that area claim it is their favorite because of the technical. All very good trails.

You can't go wrong with either of the above.

Houghton (Michigan Tech Trails), Hancock (Churning Rapids), and Copper Harbor are also places to check out. There's lots of technical and flowing singletrack, tons of elevation change, and built jumps and other obstacles. Have fun!
