Oct 25, 2003 3:36 PM | | I am organizing a fundraising expedition (www.MexQuest.com) to raise money for the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. The expedition will involve mountain biking from Veracruz to Acapulco via Orizaba Mountain. That will take us straight through the Sierra Madre del Sur and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for smaller roads or paths besides a few of the major roads in this part of Mexico. We would like to stay off the major roads for both safety concerns and also to make for a more interesting trip, but I am having some trouble getting some information about these type of roads.
Does anybody have any information that may be helpful? Or maybe someone knows of someone who may be helpful. Does anyone know of any decent maps of this area that would also have dirt roads?
