| Handsaw for clearing deadfalls? | Grant Oct 29, 2003 2:46 PM | | We've got a trail around here that due to years of drought followed by this past summer's heavy rains has a lot of deadfalls. Some are in excess of a foot in diameter. I want to clear them but don't want to try my luck with a chainsaw. What sort of handsaw will work best for this task? Thanks lots.--GB |

I like it because it fits in my back pack when doing trail maintenance. If the tree is large in diameter you'll have a bugger of a time taking it out of the way with a collapsable saw. I do use a chainsaw from time to time to clear the big ones. I'm sure you can rent one and have the sales rep. show you how if you are not comfortable using one. |

| Good folding saw... | Velophile Oct 30, 2003 8:46 PM | | I've used a good folding saw (9" blade) or a full Bow saw (24" blade) to clear lots of wind fall. A foldable Bow saw (Svensaw?) would be easier to pack & cut through bigger logs. |

The best folding saw I have found is a Gerber folding saw. Light weight, folds small and quick, cuts great, and costs well under $10! |
