| Leaf Removal | lslug Nov 1, 2003 9:50 PM | | What is the general consensus regarding leaf removal on trails under the following conditions:
1. Trail is in Southeast and has heavy hardwood leaf coverage.
2. Trail is 2 hours away from major metropolitan centers and gets limited use.
3. Trail is 14 miles so removal will not be thorough and on selected portions of the trail.
Does anyone think this would have a negative or positive impact on the trail. Anyone have any experience to speak from. |

| re: Leaf Removal | Why? IT adds to the fun. Nov 4, 2003 8:29 PM | | Why would you wanna do that, I love blasting through an aspen grove in the fall, the sound is great and you can imagin the leave blowing around in your wake. |

Just make sure most of the leaves have fallen already, and don't go nuts, they will wash/blow all over the place in the first good storm. Just get it so you can follow the trail, then ride it often.

I tried to ride a new (to me) trail last week and had to give up due to the leaves. It's in an area with lots of hardwood trees and virtually no underbrush. With several inches of dead, untracked leaves it was impossible to tell which direction the trail went. It's supposed to be a fun trail but it will have to wait until next spring. |
