Volunteer Event/Party on Sunday, November 23rd (1 post)
| Volunteer Event/Party on Sunday, November 23rd | Dances With Hornets Nov 16, 2003 11:16 AM | | Preacher,
If you're free next Sunday I would like to invite you as my special guest to our Volunteer Ride/Party. Fergie's invited too but I doubt he'll fly all the way out here from back East.
We have a ton of prizes from our sponsor's and great food and drink.
The information on the ride follows:
1. Warrior's Society and SHARE mountain bike club's 2003 Volunteer Ride/Party
2. Chiquita Trail work event wrap up
1. WARRIOR'S SOCIETY AND SHARE MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB'S 2003 VOLUNTEER RIDE/PARTY
This year's party will take place on Sunday November 23rd at Santiago Oaks Regional Park. We will have group rides of all levels starting at 10:00 AM followed by a catered BBQ and a special raffle for this year's volunteers from 12:00-4:00. Beer and wine will be served as well as soft drinks. Donations will be accepted but are certainly not mandatory.
This year's music will be provided by SHARE's own "Rock-n-Roll" Art Zippel. Our usual dress code of clammy chamois and sweaty jerseys will be strictly enforced.
Note: We are in need of a certified bartender to meet park regulations. Let us know if you are one, or know one who would like to volunteer.
Directions: From the 55 freeway take the E. Katella off ramp and turn right. Katella will eventually become E. Santaigo Canyon Rd. Turn left on Windes and follow it until it ends at the park. A parking fee will most likely be collected at the entrance.
Note: You must be either a Warrior's Society or Share member/volunteer to attend. If you have volunteered for a Warrior's Society or SHARE trail work or riding event contact the respective club for authorization to attend.
Warrior's Society club members can bring a family member if they wish for an $8.00 charge to cover food and drink. Only volunteers will qualify for the prize raffle. Please let us know if you are a vegetarian in your RSVP so we can accommodate your needs.
An RSVP is absolutely essential by noon on Wednesday November 19th to place our catering order. Please send your RSVP to countingcoup@warriorssociety.org.
2. CHIQUITA TRAIL WORK EVENT WRAP UP
We had a very successful Trail Work Event on Saturday, November 15th. We brushed the Chiquita Trail from the San Juan junction to the Chiquita Falls. We have re-evaluated the methods we use to brush the trails and have developed methods that tremendously increase our efficiency.
We hope to continue to improve our brushing efficiency and use the time saved to focus on erosion repair and other earthwork. Our goal is to rehabilitate the trails in the Blue Jay area as we have done in the Trabuco area.
Thanks to our volunteer efforts this goal will become a reality; our volunteers have proven they rise to the challenge. They are the backbone of our success in maintaining the trails in the Trabuco District of the Cleveland National Forest.
They have and deserve our respect.
